CrowdStrike boss says 97% of crashed systems fixed

A week after a botched update caused global IT to suspend flights and shut down TV stations, the head of CrowdStrike revealed that almost all systems are back online. On LinkedIn, George Kurtz said that "more than 97%" of systems running this software were back online as of July 25. Microsoft predicted that 8.5 million machines were disabled by flaws in the CrowdStrike software. This figure, along with the percentage estimates of Mr. Kurtz, shows that about 250,000 devices are still online. CrowdStrike's CEO thanked customers and employees for their "relentless efforts" while also apologizing for the incident. "While I cannot promise perfection, I can promise a targeted, positive and responsive response," he wrote. However, he admitted that the company's work to repair the devices "is not yet complete" and said that the company "worked hard to restore all the processes involved." The alkhabrfdakika asked CrowdStrike for more details about the offline systems and why they have not been shut down.

Restoring those systems proved to be a time-consuming process. Last week on Friday, both CrowdStrike and Microsoft shared a solution online within 24 hours of which the first edition was described. But the cure, which includes safely restarting the machine and deleting malicious files, requires people to have physical access to the device, which works in some cases. Microsoft has developed tools to speed up the process, but Mr. Kurtz says the development of automated recovery tools has improved recovery efforts. CrowdStrike has provided more details about how the problem appeared in the first review - which committed to a number of measures

designed to be irreversible. But the company's efforts to make things better have also been criticized for mistakes. CrowdStrike has faced fresh backlash after offering $10 UberEats vouchers to employees at the company to apologize for the mess. "The next cup of coffee or dinner is ours to show our appreciation!" CrowdStrike wrote, asking people to use the code to enter 10 credits. However, some feel that they have not changed as a sign of gratitude, one Reddit user wrote: "I wanted to drive my car over the bridge this week and they sold me coffee. It's good." According to the insurance company Parametrix, the 500 largest companies from the US fund, excluding Microsoft, had a financial loss of $ 5.4bn (£ 4.1bn) due to the closure.
